Happy Anniversary to Final Fantasy XV! November 29th is the day the game has been released to all over the world for PS4 and Xbox One in 2016. Who would have thought this game will leave a big impact on the world and us fans. In this post, I want to talk about how this game affected me and made me a hardcore fan and also reflect on the past and what to expect on the future. To be honest, I didn’t plan this post out, so as of right now, I am writing from my head. I was actually going to title this Matthew vs Final Fantasy XV based on a video I saw called Johnny vs The Street Fighter series in which the YouTuber Johnny talks about how Street Fighter has affected him and giving us a brief history on the series. Another title name was going to be Final Fantasy XV Retrospective. Anyway let’s start!
You might be wondering the title and the purpose of this post, there’s a funny story behind this. I am good friends with my anime and colleague friend Allie from Visionaries and we whenever we text each other, we have a really long conversation on anything. Whether it is anime, cartoons and just life, we can go on for hours; however, one day, we had an interesting topic in which also inspired me to write this post. As usual we were talking about anime and how much it would be cool to leave reality and jump into our favorite anime. He texted me this comment but she called it a “rant”:
Go on some sort of adventure become our own heroes. Live in a world where we can be us and that’s good enough. Where words only positivity and people look on the bright side instead of dwelling on the negative. To face their problems instead of keeping them bottles up until they explode :). Oh the naive mind is back to reality now.
This got me thinking, if it’s possible to leave reality for a day and enter any world in the anime I seen is, I would do it. Some people might agree with me in this comment especially if you like anime. Most of us had this deep wish where we can have the ability to go our favorite anime. After hearing her say this, I added my own comment to hers and I told her why I want do it if I could jump into anime:
I would love to visit that world. Take me to Sword Art Online and let me go on quests or Yu-Gi-Oh! and let me duel with my monsters. Take me to a world where my average “me” can be greater. 😀
This may sound silly the way I said it but wouldn’t it be awesome? Imagine leaving your average or boring life for a day, months or whatever time you desire and escape to somewhere where you are the hero or at least feel important. Basically, what I am saying is this: if there was a way to enter a world where you leave your dull life and enter a new world where you can live your favorite anime world or worlds, would you do it?
Personally, I would. In my daily life, I usually live just an average routine where I watch anime or just do my daily chores. Whenever I see anime characters in action or doing something exciting, I get envious. Like a kid who wants to be their favorite superhero, I like to dream and wanting to be something great like my favorite characters. If I can jump into worlds of anime, I would be hero in Dragon Ball Z, travel and enjoy solitude in Sword Art Online, or even obtain some powerful beings in Yu-Gi-Oh!.
The anime world is more bizarre than JoJo’s Bizarre Aventure but that’s okay, it just means the norm is the oddities itself like the anime Durarara!! Can it be dangerous? Yes! Will you survive? Of course if you have the right skills and ideal anime.
If somehow or someone came to you and asked if you could jump into any anime world you desire, where would you go?
If there was a rabbit hole like Alice in Wonderland where anime logic exist and all reality doesn’t, would you dig deeper?
Or better yet, if there was a door and it says “door way to anime”, would you open that door and not look back?
What would you do and where do you want to go?
Hello everyone, this is yours truly Matthew of Matt-in-the-Hat, and today is a special day because today it’s my birthday! Today I turn 23 and I have been waiting for a long time to reach this number. As a way to start this post, I will be doing a special top 10 posts but with a twist. If you guys know me enough, you would know that I have a gaming obsession with Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts. For this top 10, this will actually be divided into top 5s instead but in the end, it will be 10. Also, there is no particular order. Here is the reason behind this. Also, I will be doing personal shout-outs!
Today is the DLC add-on to the game Final Fantasy XV, Episode Gladioulus. In this episode, players will be playing as Noctis’s friend Gladiolus and they will experience what is like to play as the strongest man of the group. Taking place after facing Ravus, Gladiolus leaves the party and tries to obtain new skills. With the help of Cor, Gladio will be fighting daemons and he will have to face the ultimate challenger, Gilgamesh. If players bought the season pass, this episode is free; otherwise, you will have to pay $5.
Also coming out today is the release of of the HD collection game Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX, (in the UK, this game comes out on March 31st). This game will include the past Kingdom Hearts that was previously included for the PS3 but now it will be on PS4. The graphics are enhanced with 60 FPS. This game will include the following: Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (HD Cinematic Remaster), Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix, and Kingdom Hearts Re:Coded (HD Cinematic Remaster).
Now that I have giving you this information, going back to the top posts, I will tell you the titles to these top posts. I will be sharing my top 5 Strongest Male Humans in dedication to the Episode Gladiolus and my personal Top 5 Anime Worlds that could join Kingdom Hearts.
Thank God it’s Friday! I’m Matthew and welcome to this important and blessed Friday! What makes this day great? As a way to start this new year of 2017, I would to announce that Saturday, December 7th will be my sister’s wedding. She’s finally getting married and I can’t help but feel happy for her. After three years of dating with her fiancee, these two love bird decided to tie the knots and become a family of their own. After all my years of hanging out her fiancee, I can’t help but feel blessed; he is a cool guy and he really feels great to have an older brother. Saturday will be a major life changing moment in not only their lives but ours. As they leave and become their own family, we will continue to stay close together and expand the family!
Aside from my life, here is a quick recap news for anime fans. In Toonami, since we’re not getting Iron-Blooded Orphans season 2 any time soon, we are, instead, getting the updated anime Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn Re: 0096. You can read the plot here but this anime is updated adaptation to the classic Japanese OVA. Not one but two new anime series are joining Toonami but all under the same title. Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball Z Kai: The Final Chapters are joining Toonami. After the long wait, FUNimation will be broadcasting the anime with the veteran English Dub cast and updated actors and animation. Super takes place after the events of Majin Buu and it’s the anime adaptation to the original movies like Battle of Gods and Resurrection ‘F’ with a large plot and new characters. The Final Chapter is the Kai version of the classic Majin Buu Saga without the fillers. Last but not least, the long return of the popular series Blue Exorcist returns! Under the name, Blue Exorcist – Kyoto Saga –, the main protagonist Rin Okumura and his younger twin brother Yukio and his classmates return to slay more demons. However, based on the original manga arc The Impure King Arc, Rin will once again go through trials as he make sacrifices and must learn the responsibilities of his demonic powers if he wishes to save his friends. This anime return will follow the manga and will bring back the previous voice actors.
With all this said, let’s start this new year!
To end this post, here are some videos that relate to this wedding event!
I was also the one who gave Anime Reviewer Girl the idea topic discussion for anime themed weddings. Thank you Shay for doing this to topic! Comment on your idea wedding at her blog and video.
To end this post completely:
God bless you, my sister Vanessa and my new Brother-in-law Alex!
Hey everyone, this is Matthew of Matt-in-the-Hat. I don’t think I needed to introduce myself but I still did it to have a proper introduction. 2016… this has been a crazy year. We had events happened all over the world and even us. Most of these events were either good and some were bad. If I was to write a list of good and bad things of 2016, there would be more than two parts of this post. I won’t go into details but I guess you could say that we some interesting moments, some were major and others were minor. As we say goodbye to 2016, we will go through many changes for 2017. Some maybe good, while others get the other end of the stick. For me, my life has been a roller coaster.
I recently graduated from my University and ended with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Writing, I had two jobs working from full and part time for the season, I saw some amazing movies from Marvel and DC, my sister got proposed and will be getting married in January, and my brother has the skills to play the piano.
As my life gets busy, I have to ask myself, what about my blog? Will it remain the same or will it also evolve? I took some time to think about and I came up some ideas on what to do. I actually have ideas I want to try out for my blog. I want to go far in my blog and try to do new things. I wanted to do a top 5 or 10 post but I decided that this will be just a top posts without limitations.
Reviews – Spoiler Alerts!
If you have been reading my blog, you will notice how I review anime. Whenever I review anime or manga, I always mention that I will not spoil the story/plot. I avoid spoiling a series so I don’t have to take away the pleasure of watching or reading a series. The only exception is if I am reviewing something that’s a season 2 or some other form of sequel.
My plans for 2017 is start review anime/manga with spoilers. I think spoiler reviews will make discussions much easier to talk about and it will be easy for people to let people know which posts are spoilers and which ones are not. I believe this will also make reviewing a series easy to do because I won’t have to hold back on information. Also pn the plus side, I will have an excuse to reread or watch a series again multiple times.
This idea first came up after I had an interview with Anime Girls NYC. She interviewed me and wanted to share everything about me to everyone else. When I first got interviewed, I was really surprised. I never thought anyone would be interested in knowing me. I am just a average blogger who loves anime, manga and video games. The fact someone was interested in me made me feel special. With this moment, I always felt like getting to know know other bloggers out there. I enjoyed watching livestreams from Lita and I like learning about Shay of Anime Reviewer Girl. It could be written or talked but I think it would be nice to get to know people better if I had a moment of time to have a one and one discussion.
This is another idea I want to do in regards to doing anime or manga reviews. I want to try and do it fast reviews on series and give my opinion. If it’s good, I will say “continue on”, if it’s not, I will think of something depending on how the beginning is. For all we know, a series with a bad start could end with a great ending or a series with a great beginning can have a terrible ending. Overall, I want to do Episode 1, chapter 1, volume 1 or 1-hour impressions.
Reviewing REALLY long series
The anime series I ever reviewed that was longer than 24-26 episodes was Rurouni Kenshin. Rurouni Kenshin anime had a total of 95 episodes. Besides that anime, I think we familiar with the Big 3, One Piece, Naruto and Bleach (this is the Big 3 I know). I want to talk about long-going anime series like One Piece or whatever you think it too long and still going . Almost like my First Impression idea, I was thinking of watching the first season of anime and then give my opinion on it. Anime like Fullmetal Alchemist and Bleach that has an ending will be treated like Rurouni Kenshin: watch from beginning to end.
I recently shared this on Twitter but I recently bought the Kill la Kill Omakase Box on the Christmas sale at Rightstuf. When I got this treasure chest filled with goodies, I was excited. I held it like a greedy pirate and hid it from everyone. This box contain the Kill la Kill goods for any fan that wanted to hold one. Well, you get the picture. I want to review anime box merchandise like Omakase and Loot Crates.
To make my reviews more interesting, I was thinking about recommending other titles. If an anime/manga series is good, I would recommend other titles to help people continue to enjoy the taste of a good series and help save them from feeling empty of not having anything to see. If a series is bad, I would recommend a title that you are better off seeing; this can help save some time.
YouTube – For game reviews
Many of you may not know this, but I have a YouTube channel and I use to record gameplay videos from PS4. I don’t think I am planning to do anime reviews on YouTube or any other topic or discussions. I do have in mind of showing off the gameplay of a video game to support my video game reviews. It won’t be good as watching other gamers but it’s something and you don’t need to worry about side conversations. You just watch.
Just like other bloggers, I want to be able to make money on my blog. I enjoy writing and I think it will be nice to see my work being paid off. This would mean, you will have to remove any ad block plug-ins to help me out. I may also try to sign up for anime affiliate programs such as Rightstuf or Otaku Mode.
So far these are my goals for 2017. I want to make Matt-in-the-Hat a super, awesome blog. I may not be able to complete them all but I want to make it even better. Thank you for reading and let’s see where 2017 leads us!
I have been meaning to post this on Monday because this week marks the third anniversary of Weekley Shonen Jump’s podcast. In this special video podcast, enjoy watching the team joke around and talk about the recent issue of Weekly Shonen Jump. They will also be hosting a Shokugeki cook off by using the recipes from the manga cooking series Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma. They will also announce and reveal the upcoming manga prints. I am not going to spoil anymore details, so I will just let you watch it. It is funny and I think you will enjoy it.
This is will have spoils if you have not read the recent issue of the Shonen Jump manga, like One Piece, Bleach, and Boruto and others.
Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hats continue their adventure in the New World. Along the way, they get drawn into a revenge match of a Davy Back Fight by the Foxy Pirates led by Foxy. The Foxy Pirates have added three new subordinates; Komei as a military tactician, Dojaku, and Kansho. Ignoring his crew’s objection, Luffy accepts the challenge to a Davy Back Fight.
Shingeki no Kyojin Wiki describes this:
Attack on Avengers is a one-shot manga crossover between characters from Attack on Titan and Marvel Comics properties. This is the first official Attack on Titan crossover, and the first official Marvel crossover with a manga/anime property. Hajime Isayama created the manga’s story, although Marvel’s C.B. Cebulski wrote the comic itself.
(May contain spoilers)
Curious about what happened after the events at the marineford? Want to know how Luffy got strong? Then proceed to read this review. It will not have spoilers 😉 Continue reading
