Durarara!! author creates One Piece Ace Novel

Mentioned early this year, according to the One Piece magazine, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of One Piece, it has been announced that Durarara!! and Baccano! novelist Ryohgo Narita will be writing a novel focusing Monkey D. Luffy’s big brother, Portgas D. Ace. Based on the description, the novel will tell the story about Ace’s early life as a pirate from leaving Mt. Corvo to meeting the WhiteBeard pirates.

I would go on and tell you why Ace is an important character but I don’t want to spoil the story. I will say that this novel will reveal Ace’s character just like the anime and show his life as a Spade Pirate.

Ryohgo Narita is also doing a Bleach side story of Shuhei Hisagi for the spring and he previously did a past Bleach novel called Spirits Are Forever With You.

The island kingdom of Alabasta is about to erupt in civil war – a war engineered by Crocodile, one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and his criminal organization Baroque Works. Monkey D. Luffy, his Straw Hat pirates and Princess Vivi race to the island, where the strongest warriors of Baroque Works wait to stop them. Can Vivi and her friends stop an entire war? The Seven Deadly Sins of One Piece

Inspired by ExperGamerz for his video “The 7 Deadly Sins of Dragon Ball Z”, and just like DragonBall Z, the anime One Piece is filled with  many interesting characters with different personalities and quirks. Today I will be discussing the idea of religion and the characters of One Piece. Not so much on the discussion of God or religious symbolism but on the topic of the Seven Deadly Sins. Here are the 7 Deadly Sins: Pride, Lust, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Greed.

If you are familiar with One Piece, you might notice these sins on these characters from the show. Some may have committed a sin or even both or all but I will picking the one that sticks out the most. Here are my choices on these sins. (this post is also an assumption if you know about One Piece and the characters. Brace yourself some spoilers.)

Sloth

Sloth, laziness, is a sin that makes people do less labor and not wanting to do anything. If you are too lazy to help people or do any work, you just committed a sin. In One Piece, I can think of two characters to fit in the category: Kuzan (Aokiji) or Gecko Moria. If I had choose one, I would pick Aokiji. Reason being is because, Aokiji is known for being lazy and always sleeping on the job. It’s surprising to see an admiral of the Marines just lay around and prefer to sleep than actively serving the marines. However, that doesn’t mean Aokiji is weak because he when does serve, he is actually quite powerful. He was able to defeat both Luffy, Zoro and Sanji in the first encounter. Aokiji represents the sin sloth.

l-1 one piece aokiji

Lust

Lust is another one of the seven sins. Lust is when someone has a sexual desire for someone. Usually, when someone lusts, they are thinking impure thoughts like having sex or wanting to see nudity. In One Piece, I bet most you believe that Brook because he has obsession of seeing woman’s panties but actually, I think the number one pervert would be Absalom. With the power of the clear-clear fruit, Absalom has the ability to turn himself invisible. With this ability, he was able to sneak a peak at Nami when she was bathing. After peeping her, Absalom plots to marry Nami by capturing her by force. Lust is not the same as love.

Absalom_Trying_to_Marry_Nami one piece

Greed

This one is easy to explain. Greed is when someone is wants more of they want and they do not want to share, usually it involves money or other material items. I can safely say that the one person who fits this would be Nami. Even as a child, Nami is well-known for stealing. Even though she had to steal to try to buy her home island from Arlong, she’s still greedy up to this point. One of the funniest parts in the anime is when she stole money from her own village after the fight with Arlong. If there is treasure nearby, she is willing to go out of her way and steal treasure.

Wrath

Having tons of anger to something or someone is an example of wrath. With all that anger, people can cause destruction towards others and other things. Have you felt so angry that you wish you can crush people? I believe one person that can fit in this category is Whitebeard. Whitebeard is usually a calm old man but when you mess with his crew or even kill one of his “children”, you just signed off your own death. After witnessing the death of son Ace, Whitebeard, with the power of the tremor-tremor fruit, unleashes his rage on the killer, the admiral Akainu. If that wasn’t bad enough, he even wanted to sink and destroy the Marine Headquarters. Whitebeard is a man you don’t want to anger.

Pride

The definition of pride is being happy of one skills and boasting about their personal strengths and honor. This one is actually a tough one because there a lot of characters that can fit into this category. Out of the choices, I have Ace, Arlong, Eneru, Spandam, Don Krieg, and Crocodile. Unfortunately, I have to pick one and I choose Crocodile. I pick him because he fought Luffy, he kept bragging about how powerful he is and he told Luffy that he doesn’t stand a chance against fighting a Warlord. He relied on his own sand powers and himself. He even tried to kill off his partner Miss All Sunday (codename of Nico Robin) because he never any trusted anyone to begin with. He only focused on his goals and his abilities.

episode-one-piece-108 Crocodile

Gluttony

Almost like greed, gluttony is when is consuming more than they should. This is mostly common for people who eat too much. Before you say that Luffy fits in the category, Luffy needs food to get stronger and it helps be active. Just like Goku, he’s using the food replenish himself and fight. The one person that fits in this category is Wapol. With the power of the munch-munch fruit, Wapol can eat anything and never be hungry. The reason he fits this category is that not he eats everything, but he doesn’t use the food to fight. As a king, he instead sends his troops to do the dirty work and he just gets his way every time. This king will do anything for something in his stomach.

Wapol_Anime_Pre_Timeskip_Infobox one piece

Envy

Last but not least, we have envy. Being envious is the same thing as jealous . It’s when people gets displeased when they not happy for they have and they seek more after comparing themselves to others. This was pretty hard because I can only think of two people for this one. Sanji and Boa Hancock were my choices, but for this one, I pick Sanji. I can three moments from the anime that showed Sanji being jealous. First, he was jealous after seeing he didn’t get bounty on his head when Luffy first got a wanted poster. Second, he was mad that someone like Absalom has eating the clear-clear fruit and it crushed his dreams of peeping at girls. Lastly, he was very upset after finding out that Luffy spent 2 years trainning at Amazon Lily, the same island where the Empress Boa Hancock lived and filled with women. Even with his gentlemen composure, Sanji can not hide his jealously and it’s quite funny to see him. He might as well be a Super Saiyan.

That’s all folks, I hope you enjoyed this fun post. Who do you think fits in these sins? Comment down below and tell me about it. Be sure to check out ExperGamerz channel. It all thanks to him that I got inspired to do this post.

Friday Funny (Order) 66: Golden Issue + Knuckles!

TGIF! Thank God it’s Friday!

Hello comic book lovers, or non-comic lovers! Today on this special episode, we got a busy weekend yet again. Here are my 3 reasons why.

It’s not Fanime, E3, or Anime Expo, it’s the Comic Con 2016! Comic Con begins on July 21 and ends on July 24, from Thursday to Sunday. It’s another special time where people go and meet actors and other fans who love Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, or even manga. Dress up as your favorite hero, villain or both and meet other fans all in one place. Get the latest scope on Superhero films and meet the actors or meet TV actors like The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones. If you plan to go to Comic Con, get ready to walk a lot and be careful out there. It will also be a hot weekend.

On July 23rd, Eiichiro Oda’s anime series “One Piece” will be getting another movie titled “One Piece Film: Gold.” The movie was made by the same creator of One Piece and he was in charge of designing the costumes and new characters. If you live in Japan, you wouldn’t want to miss this. According to recent news, an old enemy returns from the Water 7 Arc.

Way back at June 23rd, Sega announced that it was Sonic the Hedgehog’s 25th anniversary. The Blue Hedgehog was born in 1991 for the Sega Genesis. It was announced by Sega that there is a new Sonic project being developed and it will be out on 2017. On July 22nd through Twitch, Sega will provide details on this new project. It will be at July 22nd.

With everything settled, let’s begin young heroes!

One Piece news: Story is 65% complete

Like most manga series, every story has a end. With Bleach and Nisekoi ending pretty soon and Naruto being over, we all know that the series One Piece has a long way to go before it finishes the story.

However, according to an interview with the creator of One Piece in the second issue of “Dai One Piece Shimbun”, Oda Sensei tells us some surprising news. According to the interview, the story of One Piece is about 65% in completion in the manga. Another twist is that he mentions he can’t do anymore long story series like One Piece.

In the previous issue in the “One Piece Shimbun” in 2012, the manga was 60% in completion.

Also, yesterday was One Piece birthday!

Top 5 Anime Dads: A Special Father’s Day Post

Happy Father’s Day everyone!

On this special day, we reflect and thank our father’s for the many things  they done for us. Just like Mother’s Day, today is the day we celebrate the importance of having a father in our lives and how much they made an impact to our lives. Just like mother’s out there, fathers have taught us on how to love and how stay strong no matter what. For us guys here, fathers have taught us to stand up for ourselves and they serve as a role model to us. A man must be caring to others and never give up. A real man is never afraid to love and he will always protect what he cares about, which is his family. In this post, I decided to create a post of the top 5 anime dads just the previous mother’s day post. Like before, there is no order or rank. These are just the five that came to my head:

(There might be spoilers)

5. Isshin Kurosaki (formerly Isshin Shiba) (Bleach)

Isshin_Kurosaki_Ep142_B

Like most dads out there, especially mine, there is always the funny fathers out there. If you are one of those kids that comes home late, your dads may lecture to death but if he is like Isshin, he will punch or kick you. Isshin is the father the main character Ichigo Kurosaki and the daughters Karin and Yuzu. In the anime, Isshin is a funny dad who tries to surprise Ichigo but attacking him unexpectedly, whether it is coming home or waking up in the morning. Besides, being funny he is also a cool dad. We later find out he was a former Soul Reaper Captain and he was quite tough. He also helped Ichigo train and learn the Final Getsuga Tenshou when they fighting against Sosuke Aizen. This is a dad you would want to have to back you up.

4. Maes Hugh (Fullmetal Alchemist)

maes hugh

Almost like Isshin, Maes is another funny father in anime. The military officer is good friends with Roy Mustang and the main characters the Elric Brothers. He is mostly seen bragging about his daughter with pictures and her cuteness. He is devoted to his daughter, he always tries to make it important to mention her every time. Besides loving his daughter and wife, Maes is hard worker in his job and he can actually look pretty cool when he is serious. He takes his job seriously and when he does, you don’t want to see his bad side. I won’t go into details that much in series but he impacted me and later in the anime.

3. Soichiro Yagamai (Death Note)

Soichiro_Yagami

I expect dad’s job is never easy but if your dad is the head police, then you have to deal with stress every day. Soichiro is the father of the protagonist character Light Yagami. Unaware of his son’s actions, he doesn’t realize that his son is actually Kira, the one that is killing criminals with the Death Note. Unable to fight Kira, Soichiro calls L, the great detective, to capture Kira. As the story progresses, L suspects that Soichiro’s son is actually Kira. Unable to accept it, Soichiro rejects the idea and tries to protect his son.

Without giving away too much of the story, Soichiro is a dad that is willing to go through extreme lengths to protect his family. Whether it is having the choice to kill Light and himself or even giving up the Death Note to save his daughter from a gang, Soichiro puts family first before duty.

2. Akio Furukawa (Clannad)

akio_furukawa_597

Akio may seem like tough guy to talk to, but he is actually a sensitive guy. Akio is the father main girl in Clannad, Nagisa Furukawa. He and his family owns a family business of making and selling bread (he has to do all the work since his wife makes bad bread). When he is not making bread, he is playing baseball with the kids in the neighborhood and teases the male protagonist Tomoya Okazaki.

Akio is another great father anime because of the sacrifices he goes through. THE FOLLOWING IS A SPOILER!!!

Since Nagisa was born with a weak immune system, Akio and Sanae had to give up their career just to be with Nagisa and keep safe. Before going to the bread business, Akio wanted to be an actor in plays but he gave that up to protect Nagisa. Later in the anime, in After Story, while Tomoya stuck in depression, he couldn’t raise his daughter Ushio by himself and he had Akio to do parenting; he agreed to do it.

Akio is the kind of father to give up their time to help someone they care about.

1. Whitebeard/Edward Newgate (One Piece)

whitebeard

Just like One Piece characters, sometimes your parents doesn’t have to be blood-related, anyone can be parent if they have heart to do it.

Before becoming one of the Four Emperors, Whitebeard wanted to have family instead of all the treasure in the world. While becoming the powerful pirate, Whitebeard recruited many different pirates and instead of calling them minions or crewmembers, he called them children. He treated his crew like a family. One of the memorable moments in the series is when he meets the flame pirate Portgas D. Ace and his crew. After defeating Ace, he recruits Ace and offers him to be his son. Later on the series, Whitebeard shows his love to his family and warned anyone that threatens his members would feel the wrath of him. Even when his children gets tricked into hurting him, Whitebeard doesn’t even hurt them but instead hugs them. He even goes as far to say, “I Love You”.

whitebeardprodigalson5

The reason why I pick Whitebeard as a great father is because of his tremendous love. He treats crew as a big family and anytime so one makes a mistake, he doesn’t hesitate to show love. Just because he has love, doesn’t mean he is weak. When someone kills his crew members, Whitebeard is ready to kill the murderer. Whitebeard is a dad who is quick to love and slow to anger for his children.

That’s all folks, I hope you enjoyed my top 5 post. What is favorite anime dad? Comment below on your choice. Happy Father’s Day!

I will close with this song from Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and ft. Ed Sheeran – Growing Up (Sloane’s Song)
