Friday Funny 164: Congratulations Superstar

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! You might be wondering what’s the special occasion besides being a Friday. Recently, my younger brother Christopher graduated high school on Thursday. He is the last member of the family to graduate. My older sister, myself and now my brother has graduated from high school. High school has been one big roller coaster in his life, but he somehow made everyday fun. He was able to go his prom and attend in musical performances for his choir class. I am so happy to have an amazing brother who can step out of his comfort zone and be an extraordinary young man. If you have siblings and they either are graduating or already did, I wish to say congratulations. This may be the end of his high school year, but this is a new chapter in his life as he enters the big world. I don’t know how school works in other countries, but June over here is a big deal because this is the month where students ;eave and take home a diploma.

Also be sure to check out my OWLS post for this month of Pride and how it is important to be happy of one’s accomplishment.

Now let’s start this Friday already!

Here are some songs for anyone graduating!

Happy Friday! 🙂

[OWLS May Blog Tour] Star Wars: Anakin’s Dark Movement for Justice and Power

May Blog Tour:

Movement

We join movements, organizations, and systems that align with our own personal values and beliefs. Sometimes we join these groups because they believe in doing good and making positive changes in society. However, these movements can turn sour when a dictator arises or behind the good intentions, there’s a hidden agenda of oppression. It is in these groups that individuals start to shape their identities by questioning their values and beliefs or conforming to the system. This month, we will be examining “real and/or fictitious” movements, organizations, or systems in anime and other pop culture mediums, and the positive and negative effects they have on individuals and society.

*Will have spoilers to the prequel films to Star Wars (Episode I: Phantom Menace, Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith).

Friday Funny 157: Ash Friday

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another episode of Friday Funny! I hope everyone is doing great this week as week continue to go through this wacky weather in Spring. Lately over here, it either feels like Winter came back for revenge or Spring is just visiting. Before I begin, I got some news going on in the internet world. Today is the official release of Playstation’s popular series, God of War (or the internet calls the new game God of War 2018 or PS4). As someone who has a PS, I love this game and I do feel guilty for not finishing the entire series. I only completed God of War 1, 3 and Chains of Olympus on PSP. In this new game, the story takes place after the events of 3 where Kratos successfully killed off all the gods on Mount Olympus and killed the leader Zeus. Unlike the previous game where the story’s setting is based off from Greek Mythology, the new story is focused on Norse Mythology. I don’t know much about this genre of myth, but if you are familiar with Asgard, Valhalla, Odin or pretty much anything related to Thor from Marvel, get ready to experience this game. Also, unlike like the last game where you hack and slash enemies, you fight as if you have to actually plan your attacks. You’re not alone in this game, Kratos has a son named Atreus who helps you by shooting at enemies with bows and arrows and it’s up to Kratos to protect him and teach him the dangers of the world and the Norse gods. Overall, according to reviews this game is one of the best games for PS4 in story and gameplay. As a side note, it won’t have any micro transactions so that’s a win! (I am adding this game to my wishlist)

Besides that, we have one week until Avengers: Infinity War and things are about to get intense for the superheros as they fight Thanos and the Black Order. I hope you watched all the MCU films because once we start the movie, you better remember the characters and the location of the Infinity Stones.

With this said, let’s begin this Friday, you mortals!

https://imgur.com/a/qmzCfvx

Here are some interesting God of War videos I found interesting. The cause of Kratos’ hate towards Ares and the gods was the death of wife and daughter. As soon as they died, Olympus died. In this new story, Kratos and his son are faced against new challenges.

Here are the remaining MCU films in Phase 3:

Captain America: Civil War

Doctor Strange

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Thor: Ragnarok

Black Panther

The end is near. 7 days left.

Bye!

Friday Funny 150: A Royal Friday

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another exciting Friday. It’s time to say goodbye to February and say hello to March, my favorite month of the year besides December. A lot of things are happening in this month such as new movies for this month. We have movies like Tomb Raider which is based on the young Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider games and then we also have the upcoming Sci-Fi nerd experience movie coming out called Ready Player One. In this TGIF post, I want to dedicate this Friday to my favorite video game Final Fantasy XV. The reason why is because on March 6th, get ready to experience Final Fantasy XV in new and different ways, especially if you are new to the series. On March 6th, if you are PC owner, get ready to play Final Fantasy XV on the PC. Whether you have Steam, Windows, Origins or download it from the Square Enix store, players who are interested in this game will be able to experience Final Fantasy XV in an exciting way. According to Square Enix, FFXV on the PC will have an enhanced graphics and players will have access to content previously released such as the Episode DLC, Online Multiplayer, the alternate chapter 13, and the Royal Edition content (I will explain soon). Depending on where you pre-purchase, you can get exclusive DLC costumes for Noctis or your custom character. On Steam pre-purchase, you can cosplay as Gordon Freeman from the Half-Life series. On Origins, you can dress up as with the Sims 4 Pack. Also, you can mod the game and have silly things like change the NPC as Cactuars!

However, there is more for FFXV fans! If you want to play FFXV on the consoles with the recent updates and DLC, there is a way. Also released on the same day, Square Enix will release Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition. According to the info, this edition will have the FFXV game, the Season Pass DLC like the Episodes and Online, new attacks and items such as the new Armiger Unleahsed and Royal Vessel boat, and new enemies and dungeons in the Ruins of Insomnia (we get to see older Cor and explore more of Insomnia). I believe that in American dollars, this game will cost about $50. However, if you already have the game and don’t want to spend for another copy, the Royal Edition will be a DLC (I think it will be about $20).

Last, but not least, SciFi Japan is holding a contest to anyone who wants to win the anime movie Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rogue and the first volume of Hunter x Hunter. Both are in English and Blu-Ray. Phantom Rogue takes place before Greed Island arc and Gon and Killua must find out who stole their friend Kurapika’s eyes. According to Kurapika, the thief has a spider mark and it’s possible that this thief is from his clan.

Anyway, let’s kick start this Friday!

https://imgur.com/a/pJ3eC

Here is what to expect from the Royal Edition and updates to Online. The Royal Edition will also be included in the PC.

PC owners:

To end the series, I will share some anime songs. I heard about the anime awards and that some awards were given to My Hero Academia. I haven’t seen season 2, but I am happy to hear this anime get popularity. I didn’t care much about Yuri on Ice and how it won last years. However, instead of focusing on MHA and since Netflix released the live-action movie Fullmetal Alchemist, here are some songs from the anime! I totally recommend watching Fullmetal Alchemist, classic and Brotherhood. Brotherhood is actually better because it follows the manga and has a satisfying ending. In both series, it has a great English Dub cast, animation is perfect, unique storyline and amazing songs.

See you next Friday!

Spider-Man (2017 TV series) season 1 spoiler-free review

Wikipedia synopsis:

After the death of his Uncle Ben, an intelligent teenager named Peter Parker comes to his own terms of becoming a masked superhero named Spider-Man when he was bitten by a radioactive spider during a school field trip to Oscorp and given spider-like powers.

IMDb synopsis:

An insecure but courageous and intelligent teen named Peter Parker, a new student of Midtown High, is bitten by a radioactive spider and given powers. He becomes a hero named Spider-Man after the death of his uncle and he must adapt to this new way of life.

Since I couldn’t find a good synopsis, I added these two from different sites, but I will also try to give one made by myself with some background information.

Background: Back to basics

This Spider-Man cartoon (I usually call it Spider-Man 2017 since it debuted on TV in 2017), is a new Spider-Man series that replaced the previous running series Ultimate Spider-Man. As Ultimate Spider-Man ended and with the popularity of the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, it was time for Marvel and Disney to try and create a new series focusing on webhead. To help promote the series and make people easily jump into Spider-Man, Marvel and Disney XD released a six part short titled Origins on YouTube which revealed the origin to Peter Parker’s beginning of Spider-Man. I won’t go into details and if you want to know my opinion on Origins and the first episodes, check it out here on the hyperlink.

My Experience on Spider-Man cartoons

If anyone knows about me, my favorite Marvel hero is Spider-Man. I like the character and his powers and the enemies in the stories, whether it is from the movies, comics or video games. My memory is vague, but I think the only Spider-Man cartoons I seen as a kid was Spider-Man and the Amazing Friends and the fan favorite Spider-Man the Animated Series.

I didn’t get experience other cartoons such as the MTV Spider-Man The New Animated Series (AKA Spider-Man MTV), Spider-Man: Unlimited or everyone’s favorite The Spectacular Spider-Man. I am not sure for myself, but based on what I hear, The Spectacular Spider show that even though it looks like it was designed for kids, it had elements that even adults would like and it combined versions like the Sam Raimi’s movies and the early 1960s comics.

https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/spiderman/images/0/07/Earth-26496.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20130203075243

I did try their previous show Ultimate Spider-Man, but I ended up dropping it. Ultimate Spider-Man was the Spectacular Spider-Man’s replacement after it got cancelled. Ultimate Spider-Man took a kid friendly approach to the the Ultimate comics and the show wanted Spider-Man to interact with other Marvel characters and the themes could be somewhat similar to Avengers cartoons. The reason why I dropped it because it wasn’t because it was kid friendly and silly, I felt it wasn’t a “Spider-Man” cartoon. There would be episodes where Spider-Man would either be solo in his adventures or team up with members of Shield; in a way, it felt like it was trying to be like an Avengers version of Spider-Man.

When I first heard about this show, I was a bit iffy, but then when I heard Robbie Daymond (voice of Prompto from Final Fantasy XV or Masked Tuxedo in the new dub for Sailor Moon) and Max Mittleman (voice of Saitama from One-Punch Man) was going to be in this show, I decided to jump into the series. Anyway, sorry for delaying this review, I am going to try and explain my thoughts on this show’s season and if it’s worth it.

Friday Funny 145: Fantasy FighterZ

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Hello everyone in WordPress or Internet people, this is Matt once again to bring you your daily medicine. I got some exciting video game news to share with you. This is the last Friday of January and I want to conclude this month with this funny post. Today is the official release of the anticipated anime video game Dragon Ball FighterZ! With the combined works of Bandai Namco of Entertainment and Syste, Arc Works, get ready to play a new Dragon Ball fighting game with an interesting original story, fighting mechanics and even a new character designed by DB creator Akira Toriyama, Android 21. This game has gained a lot of positive feedback for its gameplay and how the game captures every motion from the manga and anime. This game was also considered a great fighting game at E3 and from the news I hear, it even tops Street Fighter V, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and some say it might even defeat the upcoming crossover fighting game BlazBlue: CrossTag Battle. The best part of it is that Bandai Namco announced that this game will have loot box; HOWEVER, you don’t need to pay with real money; you use in game money to get stuff. Take notes EA!

There’s more news for the fighting genre! On Jan 30th, Square Enix and Team Ninja will be releasing the fighting spin-off Dissidia Final Fantasy NT! This game is a PS4 port of the Japanese arcade game from 2015 and now  players in the USA and UK can play this game on PS4. This game story will take place after the events from the PSP and it will have characters all the way up to XV. Noctis from FFXV will be joining the characters and getting involved with unfamiliar characters. The English voice cast returns and resume their roles and the gameplay will have 3v3 matches. For something fun, take this Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Quiz and test your skills on how much you know Final Fantasy. It’s a multiple choice quiz consisting of 30 questions. I am a Mellow Moogle!

Before you even pick your controllers, let’s look at some memes and tip me at my Ko-fi:

Friday Funny 140: He was born in a manger

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! It is a good day today because after today, we have Christmas Eve on Sunday and Day on Saturday! It has been a busy month of the year for me and probably everyone else. I hope you guys are doing well and didn’t forget the true reason why we celebrate Christmas. Christmas is the day Jesus came down from Heaven to Earth so He can grow up and die and take away sins; 3 days later, he comes back and defeats death. Overall, we remember this important history and this is why we celebrate Christmas. The King of all kings was born in a manger in the city of Bethlehem.

I want to say that I blessed this month for many things I don’t deserve. I was able to work again for the season and earn money for gifts. With my hard work, I was able to buy many fun things for myself like anime and video games. Overall, I am just happy for this month. I want to thank you guys for reading my blog and supporting it.

Let’s start this happy season together:

To end this post, here are some cheerful songs (Instead of using Mariah Carey’s Christmas song, I will use something else. It’s been played out!)!

God bless you all and Merry Christmas

Friday Funny 134: One Nation under God

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another Friday episode! This is yours truly, Matthew Castillo. I am here once again to give you some daily funny posts and I would like to share some usual news. This Saturday is Veterans Day, a day where we remember and celebrate a day for fellow soldiers who fought for America. We come together to say thank you for your service and thank you for protecting our home and family. You guys are the best soldiers and I am fortunate to live in a country who support freedom and liberty. In other news, I haven’t seen Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You but I did see Thor: Ragnarok and I loved it. My family and I saw it on Sunday on the 5th and it was a funny and exciting movie. Thor was awesome and Loki is still my favorite sassy villain and I can’t forget one of my favorite Avengers, the Hulk. Speaking of Pokemon, you still have a chance to see the movie if you missed it, on November 11th and 14th, you can still try again and see it in theaters! In video game news, Square Enix recently announced that in Final Fantasy XV, they will be finally releasing the online expansion pack Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades. It was originally going to be released for Nov 7th but now it will be on 15th because SE wanted to fix and patch up bugs. In this expansion pack, players will be able to create their own characters and fight along with FFXV characters and fend off against Daemons.

In a personal FFXV note, I finally competed the quest A Menace Beneath Lucis! To those who don’t know, it’s sidequest where you and your party must go travel back into the tombs and unlock the secret doors and fight off powerful monsters. According to sites, they are tough and recommend players to be above level 90 and some of these doors are LONG! One of the dungeons, Costlemark, is the hardest because you are forbidden to using any items. Surprisingly, I beat this one and I only died once; I was expecting to die multiple times. If you plan to do this, make sure you are above level 90, found the legendary weapons and don’t make any plans. Here’s a funny “Honest Trailer” of this quest:

Last but not certainly least, I recently signed up for Ko-fi! In this application, you enjoy my blog and feel compelled to do more than just like and share, feel free to buy me a “cup of coffee”. The tip is small so don’t worry about tipping me a lot unless you are REALLY love me. The link below will take you to my new page.

To end this post I decided to share some random tweets. I recently found out I got this 280 character limit, I decided to play with it and do random stuff.

If you want something funny, check out this collection tweets from the Sonic the Hedgehog account. As a way to promote and celebrate the game Sonic Forces, Sonic with Shadow and Dr. Eggman has hosted a live takeover and answered questions from fans. The answers are funny and entertaining.
