Sakura-Con news: Anime Dub and Fate App

First, Happy Resurrection Day! Second, here is some news from Sakura-Con!

FUNimation

I found out this news from a blogger named Takuto’s Tweet in Twitter first and then I had to check at Anime News Network to confirm it and it’s true. Feel free to check out his blog here.

At Sakura-Con, FUNimation announced that they got license to release Kyoto Animation’s anime Hyuoka. This anime is 22 episodes long and the anime director is the same person who did Full Metal Panic Fumoffu and Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid. Here is the plot for the anime:

The story follows a boy named Hōtarō who is not assertive about getting involved, but was ordered by his older sister to join the classic literature club. In the club, he gets close to the truth about an incident, involving a female member’s uncle, which happened 33 years ago. The “energy-saving” boy is joined by an inquisitive girl in this adolescent mystery.

FUNimation states that the first part of the anime will be released on July 4th in DVD with an English Dub.

They also announced another anime to join in the July release. The anime Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches will be released in DVD with English Dub. Here is the plot:

The story begins when high school boy Yamada bumps into the beautiful female honor student Shiraishi on the stairs, and their lips touch as they fall. When they regain their wits, they realize that they have swapped bodies. As time progresses, the two realize that this is not the only mysterious happening in the school.

Aniplex

Anime from Aniplex of America is also joining the news!

Well-known for making anime fans cry harder than Clannad and Angel Beats, the anime anohana – The Flower We Saw That Day will be receiving an English Dub. Led by voice actor Patrick Seitz (Franky in One Piece, Dio in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Isshin from Bleach), the anime already found a cast to play as the characters. It’s unknown when will the anime will be released for DVD or stream.

Aniplex will also be releasing complete Blu-Ray Sets for the anime Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic and Magi: The Kingdom of Magic for $119.98. Both sets are in English Dub and Sub with textless opening and ending songs.

Fate/Stay Go

Even though this is not another anime news but related, Aniplex of America announced that they will be releasing the app game Fate/Grand Order for U.S. and Canada. This game is well-known for fans especially since they played the JP version. Aniplex announced some updates to the game in regards to players who have access to the JP version such not being able to transfer accounts and keeping up with campaign events. The app is planned to be released in the summer but you can read the details here.

Game News: New Naruto games!

Recently announced in a trailer and 19th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan, Namco Entertainment will be releasing some new Naruto games.

In a trailer, a game called Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker will be for PS4, Xbox One and Steam. The game will be developed by Soliel, a subsided company of Vahla Game Studios. Here is what the game is described so far:

Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker is an “acrobatic ninja battle” game for the PlayStation 4. The game will have an online component, and players can form four-person cells in multiplayer to fight against another four-person cell for a total of eight players. The game has no set release date.

Another Naruto coming out but in collection format is called Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Trilogy. In the issue described, the game collection will include Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 1, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2, and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 along with the DLCs.

Players who buys the game early will receive a product code to watch the Boruto anime screened from  Jump Special Anime Fiesta and folded poster.

Even though the news say the games will be for PS4, it will more than likely will be available for PS4, Xbox One and Steam. I think these games were made for PS4 only in Japan.

I recently did a top 5 on strongest human men and now I am going to do a top 5 strongest human women!

Just like men in anime, there are some women out there that are so strong that can make men shake in fear. Sometimes, they can be relatable and can exist in the real world. In anime, women can look both cute and scary or beautiful and dangerous. In this list, I will be listing my choices for top 5 strongest girls in anime. Just like my male list, these girls are humans; no aliens, monsters, demons or androids, ONLY humans! This list is not ranked either and no spoilers here either.

Anime Jungle Experience

I am going to be quick on this post. Today was my unofficial, or unhappy birthday today and for this day, my family took me on a trip to Little Tokyo. They know that I love anime and manga and my fascination on Japanese culture. Little Tokyo was an exciting place to go. In a funny way, it was like being in actual Tokyo from Japan. My family and I went to the Anime Jungle, also known as the Entertainment Hobby Shop Jungle. I went to three stores and I bought something from each one. I got my first ever Pop! figure of Kirito from Sword Art Online, two manga books of Rosario Vampire Season 2, and a Tobi mask from Naruto Shippuden.

My actual birthday is on March 28th!

Toonami News: Tokyo Ghoul replaces One Piece

Tokyo Ghoul will be taking its spot and if One Piece is taken off, that we will not be getting the Sabaody Archipelago arc on TV.

Here’s a random fact, One Piece joined Toonami on May 2013 starting episode 207.

Rurouni Kenshin

English license company Viz Media posted up an English-Subtitled interview of Hisashi Sasaski (vice president for global Shonen Jump at Viz Media and former editor-in-chief of Shueshia’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine). In this news however, it appears that he and Watsuki are meeting together again for an upcoming arc for the Rurouni Kenshin manga. The new arc is called the “Hokkaido Arc”. The new series will have 5 arcs. The manga will be published in the spring.

Recently, he and his wife Kaoru Kurosaki have worked together to release a two-chapter prologue to the arc called Rurouni Kenshin Hokkaido Arc Prologue: The Criminal Ashitaro.

Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale movie review and experience

[official site synopsis]

In 2022, the world of virtual reality was upended by the arrival of a new invention from a genius programmer, Akihiko Kayaba. Called NerveGear, it was the first full-dive system and with it, came endless possibilities to VRMMORPGs.
In 2026, a new machine called the Augma is developed to compete against the NerveGear and its successor, the Amusphere. A next-gen wearable device, the Augma doesn’t have a full-dive function like its predecessors. Instead, it uses Augmented Reality (AR) to get players into the game. It is safe, user-friendly and lets users play while they are conscious, making it an instant hit on the market. The most popular game on the system is “Ordinal Scale” (aka: OS), an ARMMORPG developed exclusively for the Augma.
Asuna and the gang have already been playing OS for a while, by the time Kirito decides to join them. They’re about to find out that Ordinal Scale isn’t all fun and games…

Story is created by original author Reki Kawahara

Director is Tomohiko Itoh
