Friday Funny 135: Unite the League!

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Can you believe that next week is going Thanksgiving? Make sure you guys stock on food and if you have too much food, please donate to local charities give any extra canned food or cooked turkey. Before we get there, let me introduce some exciting news. As you may have noticed, today is the movie release of DC superhero team, Justice League. Taking place after the events of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Batman must assemble a team by finding super humans like Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg and together with Wonder Woman, they must fight a mysterious alien threat. Characters from the previous movie like Lois Lane and Lex Luther are expected to come back. According to recent reviews, this movie got mixed reviews but it did better than BvS.

In other news in regards t video games, Square Enix has just released the online expansion to Final Fantasy XV called Comrades. You can create your avatar and work together with players and tackle missions. Speaking of Final Fantasy XV, get ready for 2018 because FFXV main character Noctis Lucis Caelum will be joining in Bandai Namco’s popular fighting game Tekken 7! Also from DC, the recent game Injustice 2 will also be having another quest character to join the fight with superheroes. It is reported that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be joining the game as the next DLC pack for 2018. 2018 is going to be a great year for fighting games.

Don’t forget to check my friend Allie’s blog and read her fan fiction. Let her know what you think and help her to continue writing.

With this said, let’s begin my fellow super friends!

Fighting game news: Turtles in Injustice and Noctis in Tekken 7?

Injustice 2

https://i2.wp.com/gamessec.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/injustice-2-dlc-fighter-pack-3-adds-the-atom-enchantress-and-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles.jpg

I think most people know about this but here’s a quick recap news. Recently announced, the popular DC fighting game Injustice 2 has revealed another season pack for the game and it will be third. It’s revealed that Atom and Enchantress will participating in the game; however, this is not the big news stirring online. Also joining the game is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Based on what we can assume, players will be able to play as all four turtles and they will be able fight the DC characters, heroes and villains. These are not the characters from a different franchise crossing over in this game. Recently, Raiden from the Mortal Kombat series is in the game as well as Dark Horse comic character Hellboy.

Tekken 7

Tekken 7 will not only be getting Akuma from Capcom Street Fighter but apparently, someone from Square Enix. Final Fantasy XV hero Noctis Lucis Caelum will be joining Tekken 7! Based on the reveal trailer, Noctis will be fighting with his traditional Engine Blade along with his magic. His character will be playable and players will able to unlock arenas from the game such as fighting Hammerhead Repair Shop.

This is not the first time Noctis has encounter a crossover moment. Final Fantasy XV has crossover with Assassin’s Creed Origins with a festival, NieR: Automata with an exclusive Engine Blade weapon, and even Xbox exclusive Forza Horizon 3 with the Regalia.

Both these exclusive characters will be available to play in 2018 during the late winter.

Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades Closed Beta Quick Impressions

As a way to bring hype and attention to the upcoming expansion pack to the popular Final Fantasy XV game and it’s official online mode, I will be talking about my impression to the Closed Beta to Comrades. I am sorry that this is really late and I will try not to waste any time. This impression will be really fast and brief!

In the beginning, in order to get the beta, players must own a copy of Final Fantasy XV, a PS+ or Xbox Live account and got the season pass. Once you get the season pass, players will be gifted to try out the early stages to Comrades. When you first start the game, you are given the choice to be either man or woman; you can later customize your fashion. Once you get done, you will be placed in a server and you will be in a hub where you can interact with the characters and even train your skills. The weapons you get is a fast katana, shuikens, poles and daggers. Once you are ready to play, you go talk to Cor or someone who is there and start the mission. The missions usually involves with either killing a specific Daemon or protecting Cindy on a escort mission.

The Positives

I think it’s pretty cool that Square Enix is adding this new feature to the game. In the past, they have done online games such as Final Fantasy XI and XIV, so they are not new to this. For a beta game, this game wasn’t too difficult to understand. The controls feel exactly like Noctis from the main game and I like being able to still switch weapons. It’s also nice to interact with the side characters like Cindy and Cor and even feel part of the Kingsglaive.

The Negatives

As a beta, I understand things were going to be limited. I didn’t really much of this because the servers in this game wasn’t the best. There was times the game couldn’t find any open lobbies or a strong server and it made me feel like I wasted my time downloading a beta. Like most online complications, the game’s connection with players can have bugs such as lags or delays.

Overall

For being an early stage, this expansion game is pretty well done. The gameplay is no different than playing the main game. I think what’s fun is that you can have players working together and fight as one like game and movie. I also think that once the game is fully finished and polished for the full game, the complications won’t be present as often. I am looking forward to unlocking content for my character and even curious about the story. In my opinion, if you have Final Fantasy XV and you like the game, I would recommend it if you are hyped to play online. I might be jumping into conclusions since this was a beta. Did you play the beta? What is your opinion?

Just a reminder, Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades is expected to be released on November 15th for Xbox One and PS4. If players have the season pass, they will be able to play for free. Based on the recent trailer, the story of online will take place during 10 years where Noctis disappeared into the Crystal. With Noctis sudden disappearance, the rest of the surviving Lucians and Kingsglaive must stand together and fight the Daemons wandering Eos. Along the way, players will be able to encounter Noctis’s friends and they can work together and save Eos in the darkness.

Feel free to buy me a cup of coffee if you feel obliged to show more support!

Friday Funny 134: One Nation under God

TGIF!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another Friday episode! This is yours truly, Matthew Castillo. I am here once again to give you some daily funny posts and I would like to share some usual news. This Saturday is Veterans Day, a day where we remember and celebrate a day for fellow soldiers who fought for America. We come together to say thank you for your service and thank you for protecting our home and family. You guys are the best soldiers and I am fortunate to live in a country who support freedom and liberty. In other news, I haven’t seen Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You but I did see Thor: Ragnarok and I loved it. My family and I saw it on Sunday on the 5th and it was a funny and exciting movie. Thor was awesome and Loki is still my favorite sassy villain and I can’t forget one of my favorite Avengers, the Hulk. Speaking of Pokemon, you still have a chance to see the movie if you missed it, on November 11th and 14th, you can still try again and see it in theaters! In video game news, Square Enix recently announced that in Final Fantasy XV, they will be finally releasing the online expansion pack Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades. It was originally going to be released for Nov 7th but now it will be on 15th because SE wanted to fix and patch up bugs. In this expansion pack, players will be able to create their own characters and fight along with FFXV characters and fend off against Daemons.

In a personal FFXV note, I finally competed the quest A Menace Beneath Lucis! To those who don’t know, it’s sidequest where you and your party must go travel back into the tombs and unlock the secret doors and fight off powerful monsters. According to sites, they are tough and recommend players to be above level 90 and some of these doors are LONG! One of the dungeons, Costlemark, is the hardest because you are forbidden to using any items. Surprisingly, I beat this one and I only died once; I was expecting to die multiple times. If you plan to do this, make sure you are above level 90, found the legendary weapons and don’t make any plans. Here’s a funny “Honest Trailer” of this quest:

Last but not certainly least, I recently signed up for Ko-fi! In this application, you enjoy my blog and feel compelled to do more than just like and share, feel free to buy me a “cup of coffee”. The tip is small so don’t worry about tipping me a lot unless you are REALLY love me. The link below will take you to my new page.

Escape to the Great World of Anime!

You might be wondering the title and the purpose of this post, there’s a funny story behind this. I am good friends with my anime and colleague friend Allie from Visionaries and we whenever we text each other, we have a really long conversation on anything. Whether it is anime, cartoons and just life, we can go on for hours; however, one day, we had an interesting topic in which also inspired me to write this post. As usual we were talking about anime and how much it would be cool to leave reality and jump into our favorite anime. He texted me this comment but she called it a “rant”:

Go on some sort of adventure become our own heroes. Live in a world where we can be us and that’s good enough. Where words only positivity and people look on the bright side instead of dwelling on the negative. To face their problems instead of keeping them bottles up until they explode :). Oh the naive mind is back to reality now.

This got me thinking, if it’s possible to leave reality for a day and enter any world in the anime I seen is, I would do it. Some people might agree with me in this comment especially if you like anime. Most of us had this deep wish where we can have the ability to go our favorite anime. After hearing her say this, I added my own comment to hers and I told her why I want do it if I could jump into anime:

I would love to visit that world. Take me to Sword Art Online and let me go on quests or Yu-Gi-Oh! and let me duel with my monsters. Take me to a world where my average “me” can be greater. 😀

This may sound silly the way I said it but wouldn’t it be awesome? Imagine leaving your average or boring life for a day, months or whatever time you desire and escape to somewhere where you are the hero or at least feel important. Basically, what I am saying is this: if there was a way to enter a world where you leave your dull life and enter a new world where you can live your favorite anime world or worlds, would you do it?

Personally, I would. In my daily life, I usually live just an average routine where I watch anime or just do my daily chores. Whenever I see anime characters in action or doing something exciting, I get envious. Like a kid who wants to be their favorite superhero, I like to dream and wanting to be something great like my favorite characters. If I can jump into worlds of anime, I would be hero in Dragon Ball Z, travel  and enjoy solitude in Sword Art Online, or even obtain some powerful beings in Yu-Gi-Oh!.

The anime world is more bizarre than JoJo’s Bizarre Aventure but that’s okay, it just means the norm is the oddities itself like the anime Durarara!! Can it be dangerous? Yes! Will you survive? Of course if you have the right skills and ideal anime.

If somehow or someone came to you and asked if you could jump into any anime world you desire, where would you go?

If there was a rabbit hole like Alice in Wonderland where anime logic exist and all reality doesn’t, would you dig deeper?

Or better yet, if there was a door and it says “door way to anime”, would you open that door and not look back?

What would you do and where do you want to go?

OWLS Blog Tour: Tokyo Ghoul – Ken Kaneki, the diplomatic ghoul

Whenever we have a disagreement with someone, we use our words to express our thoughts and opinions. However, there are those who would rather use fists instead of words, those who forget that being “right” isn’t the most important thing, and those who lose sight of compromising and acknowledging differences in opinion and belief. Diplomacy is an important skill and tactic that not many of us have or are able to utilize properly especially in “social media wars” for sensitive issues and anime discourse—we just express our opinions without really listening. For this month’s prompt, we will be exploring some of the best negotiations scenes in pop culture media and discuss how effective these diplomatic moments are and what we can learn from them. We will also discuss why communication and listening are important traits to have and whether or not there are other means to enforce peace.

Will contain spoilers to Tokyo Ghoul anime. Also, please support the previous OWLS blog tour post from Moonid.
