Friday Funny 145: Fantasy FighterZ

Thank God it’s Friday! Hello everyone in WordPress or Internet people, this is Matt once again to bring you your daily medicine. I got some exciting video game news to share with you. This is the last Friday of January and I want to conclude this month with this funny post. Today is the official release of the anticipated anime video game Dragon Ball FighterZ! With the combined works of Bandai Namco of Entertainment and Syste, Arc Works, get ready to play a new Dragon Ball fighting game with an interesting original story, fighting mechanics and even a new character designed by DB creator Akira Toriyama, Android 21. This game has gained a lot of positive feedback for its gameplay and how the game captures every motion from the manga and anime. This game was also considered a great fighting game at E3 and from the news I hear, it even tops Street Fighter V, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and some say it might even defeat the upcoming crossover fighting game BlazBlue: CrossTag Battle. The best part of it is that Bandai Namco announced that this game will have loot box; HOWEVER, you don’t need to pay with real money; you use in game money to get stuff. Take notes EA!

There’s more news for the fighting genre! On Jan 30th, Square Enix and Team Ninja will be releasing the fighting spin-off Dissidia Final Fantasy NT! This game is a PS4 port of the Japanese arcade game from 2015 and now  players in the USA and UK can play this game on PS4. This game story will take place after the events from the PSP and it will have characters all the way up to XV. Noctis from FFXV will be joining the characters and getting involved with unfamiliar characters. The English voice cast returns and resume their roles and the gameplay will have 3v3 matches. For something fun, take this Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary Quiz and test your skills on how much you know Final Fantasy. It’s a multiple choice quiz consisting of 30 questions. I am a Mellow Moogle!

Before you even pick your controllers, let’s look at some memes and tip me at my Ko-fi:

To end this post, here are some hype videos!

Some DBZ games from the past. 😉

See you guys in the ring!

Amazon New Streaming Service: Pokemon Channel

Remember the news of Amazon getting rid of the anime streaming service Anime Strike? Well, Amazon is back again but this time, they are targeting Pokemon.

According to IGN, Amazon announced that Amazon Prime members will be able to stream and watch their favorite episode/seasons of the anime Pokemon. The new service is called Pokemon Channel and the service will also include TV seasons, specials like Pokemon: Origins and movies. According to Amazon, the movies will be rotated “regularly” which means that the movies they stream will be changed periodically. Here is what is being streamed currently:

  • Pokemon: The Movie 2000
  • Pokemon 3: The Movie
  • Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew
  • Pokemon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea

  • Seasons 2-5
  • Seasons 10-16

However, there is a catch to this service. In order to use Pokemon Channel, you have to be a Prime member AND you have to pay $3 (USD) a month. If you are curious about this, they are offering a seven day trial to Pokemon Channel.

Are you going to try Pokemon Channel?

It’s free and Sega plans to keep it free forever. If you want to transform into Super early in the game, go download this game in any system like PS4, X1 and Switch.

To those who doesn’t know what’s going on, Sega recently signed a partnership with IDW after Sega’s contract with the previous comic company Archies expired. Now in this news, Sega will bring Sonic back into the comic world and already introduced fans an exclusive new character. According to IGN, this new character is named Tangle and she is a new ally to Sonic. The comic series will be out on April this year. Game News: Sonic Director joins Square Enix!

Found on Twitter but I found out in Anime News Network, Sonic the Hedgehog game programmer and former leader of Sonic Team Yuji Naka revealed the news that he decided to join the game company Square Enix. He even mentions that he will still be working in video games.

So what does this mean? I believe Sonic will still be in Sega unless something happens but that means the same guy who worked on Sonic games will be lending a hand in Square Enix team and be involved projects such as Final Fantasy or other well known titles.

Here are some interesting facts:

  • Yuji Nake joined Sega in 1984 but starting developing Sonic the Hedgehog in 1990.
  • He left Sega and formed his own team named Prope in 2006. (This is probably the same time where Sega split up into teams and made games like Sonic 06 and Wii game Sonic and the Secret Rings.)
  • He was the producer to the OVA anime Sonic the Hedgehog in 1996 and executive producer to 2003 Sonic X anime.
  • In Prope, he made games like Rodea the Sky Soldier, Fishing Resort and Ivy the Kiwi?

Friday Funny 144: Spaghetti is better on a Friday!

Thank God it’s Friday! Welcome back to another silly Friday! I have some good news to share with you. I am over this cold and I am feeling like myself again! I hope everyone is doing okay as well, this cold that’s going around has been a real nasty one. To be honest, I don’t have much interesting going on except some recap for Final Fantasy XV. I already finished my review on the DLC episode, Episode Ignis. I am thinking about going back and doing spoiler reviews on the stories of the episodes. Besides that, Square Enix released some updated news that on March 6th, there is going to be an updated version of Final Fantasy XV called Royal Edition. If you haven’t bought FFXV, you can save up and buy Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition in physical copy for PS4 and X1 where it has the game with all the updates such as the Episodes DLC and expansion pack. If you already have the game, you can just download the Royal Edition separately. Also, get ready for a PC version where you can play the game on your PC for the latest updates and enhance graphics.

This is off topic but I am not sure if it’s true, but why are people eating tide pods?! It’s dangerous and you are consuming chemicals that can kill you! It’s dangerous like the cinnamon challenge!

Anyway, let’s begin already!

Instead of doing something silly as usual, I want to tell everyone what’s going on YouTube. It’s important to know this for otaku anitubers and other people starting channels. The YouTuber vlogger star Logan Paul caused some controversy in Japan after he filmed a dead suicide body in the woods. This cause great disgust for the followers and others and after the incident, he took down the video and made an apology video. Ever since this, people are complaining to YouTube that they need to punish Logan Paul and make YouTube more safe for kids. I don’t know for sure but I hear Logan Paul’s fans are mostly young adults that look up to him, probably in the teens. Instead of banning Logan Paul or listening to the people, YouTube decided to take action and make it harder for people to get money for their videos. In order to make money out your videos, YouTube decides that you need to have at least 1,000 followers. Since Logan Paul (and other well-known YouTubers) have about million followers, they are safe and they can still money. However, this is bad news for some channels or new people because this means they will not be making money unless they get enough followers. This is bad news for us anitubers since we want to make money for doing videos such as reviews, podcasts and discussions, but this also means that now we need more supporters to meet the quote. In short, now with this new rules in YouTube, it’s going to be a lot harder for small channels. To show support to the anime community, here are some channels you can follow and show support to help the community:

Anyway, these are some channels worth checking out. Let’s help out the community! Bye everyone!

Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition news confirmed and PC updates!

You may already know this but I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy XV. Final Fantasy is my all time favorite video game besides Kingdom Hearts and Sonic the Hedgehog. You might be wondering, “Matt, you always talk about this game and I want to try this but I hear there’s DLC, what should I do?”

I got some exciting news for newcomers and returning fans. Revealed in Twitter by the official Final Fantasy XV account, Square Enix will be re-releasing Final Fantasy XV with all the recent updates from 2017 DLC and new content. The new version is called Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition. Based on the trailer, this game will be for PS4 and Xbox One. The game will include all the recent DLC episodes (Gladiolus. Prompto, and Ignis) including the Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades; this also includes free updates like the Regalia-D and the ability to change characters in the main game. With an addition, the new version will include a new attack for the Armiger and a an expansion to Insomnia. In the video, playing as the timeskip Noctis, you will be able to explore an all new dungeon in the Ruins of Insomnia and encounter new bosses and view new additional cutscenes in which players will see Cor in his new 10 year skip form!

However, if you already have the game and you don’t want to buy another copy of the game, I got some positive news for you. According to GameSpot, there will be a separate Royal Edition for the PSN and Xbox Store for $20 (this is for the USA and I don’t what’s going to cost at the UK). Buying the physical version of Royal Edition will be $50 or £40 (UK). This new version will have a new cover like above designed by Yoshitaka Amano.

To be honest, I wish this free like how Street Fighter V did it when you already have the game, you can download the free Arcade Edition.

But wait there’s more!

If you want to play Final Fantasy XV but you don’t have a console, but you got a PC, I got some new good news. Already mentioned, Final Fantasy XV will be joining PC. However, also announced on Twitter, the game will also include the recent Royal Edition and all the free past DLCs like the Episodes and Comrades.

According to a Twitter FFXV friend I follow, Maku posted a small graph detailing on the bonus incentives if you preorder Final Fantasy XV PC. Depending where you get the PC game like Windows, Steam or Origins, you will be getting some bonuses.

Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition and the PC version will be released at the same day on March 6th, 2018!

Discotek Movie news: Blu-Ray anime and movies!

It’s always good news when a company licenses and releases an anime movie especially if it was previously exclusive for Japan.

Announced at Twitter and Anime News Network, Discotek, English anime license company, revealed some anime movie titles that they were able to license and are set to be released for North America on March 27!

For movies, Discotek will be releasing a double-featured set of the movie based on the series Zatch Bell. The collection will have all the two movies. The first movie is called 101st Devil and the second movie is Attack of the Mechavulcan. Both these movies will be in English Sub only. Here is the synopsis for both:

Zatch Bell: 101st Devil:

While the battle to determine the next king of the demon realm has often been fraught, the rules were always clear: 100 demon children partnered with 100 humans would challenge each other, using 100 magical books. What none of them knew was that there was a 101st magical book, powerful enough to stop any of the others. Gash and Kiyomaro must begin a journey that will take them into the demon realm to confront the mysteries of Gash’s past. But will they escape in time to help their friends in a battle with a seemingly unstoppable enemy.

Zatch Bell: Attack of the Mechavulcan:

As Kiyomaro races to catch the bus to seaside camp, little does he know that Dr. M2, a demonic magic scientist from the future, has sent out a robot to kidnap him. He’s trapped in limbo with the mad magic scientist who wants to be his partner and an army of Vulcan robot lookalikes. Dr. M2 sends a robot to pretend to befriend Gash, keeping him away from Kiyomaro until M2 can abscond with the teen genius to the future. In the end, it comes down to saving the world with a little help from their friends…

Even though FUNimation dubbed the anime TV series of Toriko, Discotek was able to license the movie Toriko: Secret Recipe of the Gourmet God. The movie will be subtitled. Here is the synopsis for the movie:

In a world where the most delicious ingredients come from dangerous lands and deadly beasts, only the strongest and bravest can be true gourmands. Toriko is a Gourmet Hunter, a mighty warrior with Gourmet Cells. These can be implanted into humans, and those who successfully intergrate them see rapid enhancement of their particular traits, alowing them to gain superhuman abilities. Together with his chef partner Komatsu, he seeks out the world’s most delicious foods! Their latest mission is to investigate a mysterious biotope said to house a special recipe left there by the world’s most legendary hunter, Acacia. But a mysterious and deadly hunter named Girim interrupts, declaring that he will find Acacia’s legacy and keep it for himself! When his power proves too overwhelming even for Toriko, allies and enemies alike must work together, to stop Girim before it’s too late!

Discotek will also releasing the classic series Great Mazinger on DVD for English Subtitles. The DVD will have all episode!

After a long and difficult battle, Dr. Hell and his malicious forces have been defeated. While it seems as though peace has been achieved, a much stronger evil has arisen; the Mycenaean Empire. Lead by the Emperor of Darkness, they waste no time to dispatch their fearsome Battle Beasts, which easily defeat Mazinger Z. As Koji and Sayaka leave for the United States, it’s up to skilled pilot, Tetsuya Tsurugi, and his new and improved Great Mazinger to take a stand!

Another classic title joining the news is a classic anthology collection of OVA titled Robot Carnival. The DVD collection will be in Blu-Ray and it will have subtitles and the original dub!

Wikipedia synopsis:

It consists of nine shorts by different well-known directors, many of whom started out as animators with little to no directing experience. Each has a distinctive animation style and story ranging from comedic to dramatic storylines. The music for all of the segments was composed by Joe Hisaishi.

Last but not least, they also got the license to release a blu-ray collection of Tenjho Tenge! The anime will be available with English Sub and Dub. If you enjoy the catchiest intro song, relieve it again in this new edition.

Wikipedia Synopsis:

The plot begins with Souichiro Nagi and his friend Bob Makihara going to their first day of high school at Toudou Academy. They had intended to rule the school by beating up anybody that got in their way, as they had done at their previous schools. They soon learn that Toudou is no ordinary high school, but rather a school that was founded to teach and integrate different fighting styles. Its students are skilled in the various arts of combat with some students possessing supernatural abilities, such as pyrokinesis, precognition, and superhuman strength based on the abilities to use their “spirit” or “ki” in Japanese. After an altercation with the Executive Council, Souichiro and Bob join the only surviving club that opposes them, the Juken club. As the storyline develops, both groups find they are becoming increasingly involved in a long enduring conflict that was left unresolved from the Japanese Feudal era by some of the characters’ ancestors.
