Gintama Season 3 English Dub added in Crunchyroll

This is a surprise. Known for it’s wackiness and insane action plot, the popular Shonen Jump series Gintama will be getting an English Dub and it will be available in Crunchyroll…BUT there is a catch.

Only season 3 of Gintama will be in English. Season 1 and 2 are in subtitles. Season 3 will cover episodes 266-316. New episodes will be added every Wedsnesday all the way to February.

In a world where aliens have invaded Edo Period Japan, skyscrapers, trains and motor bikes have replaced the simple life of Earth inhabitants. One man however, still carries the soul of a samurai, Gintoki Sakata, otherwise known as Yorozuya Gin-san. As reckless as he is, Gintoki carries his own resolve and is ready to take on any challenge with his fellow companions.

  1. Gintama is a great anime! I am really leery about a dub though. The problem is that there are so many Japanese pop culture jokes and references that I’m not sure how those will translate over to English. This, and the Japannese seiyu for Gintama are really good. I often do like dubs, but this one…

      • It may be good. Being as far as I am into it changing to the dub wouldn’t work for me as I’m already used to the Japanese seiyu. There are a lot of references that I don’t get since many are jokes about Japanese television shows and personalities. That being said, that doesn’t detract to much because so much of the show is good (and hilarious). I’ll be interested in what you think once you start watching it.

      • Hopefully I will get the chance to see it. I am one of the few to not see this anime. I do hear from fans that this is recommendation if you like humor. Maybe I will start with the English Dub.
