Journey video game review

Website describes it:

Enter the world of Journey, the third game from acclaimed developers thatgamecompany and presented by SCEA Santa Monica Studio.

Journey is an interactive parable, an anonymous online adventure to experience a person’s life passage and their intersections with other’s.

You wake alone and surrounded by miles of burning, sprawling desert, and soon discover the looming mountaintop which is your goal.

Faced with rolling sand dunes, age-old ruins, caves and howling winds, your passage will not be an easy one. The goal is to get to the mountaintop, but the experience is discovering who you are, what this place is, and what is your purpose.

Travel and explore this ancient, mysterious world alone, or with a stranger you meet along the way. Soar above ruins and glide across sands as you discover the secrets of a forgotten civilization.

Featuring stunning visuals, haunting music, and unique online gameplay, Journey delivers an experience like no other.

I got this game for free since I was PS Plus (Playstation Plus) subscriber. This game was first released on the PS3 but you can also play this game on PS4. I did that this game was amazing but I never tried it on PS3 but now that I have it , I can share you with my experience with it.

Story:

The story is quite vague because there is no one telling you the story and everything is visual. As your character walk  through this mysterious journey, the character and yourself will learn where are you are going and what is going on. You first start off in the middle of a desert but as you progress through the game, you will encounter dunes, ruins and mountains. It’s up to learn the significance of the ruins and about your people.

I find this game really fascinating. Usually whenever I play a game, I am usually told on where am I and why am I here but this is an exception. It felt like I wasn’t really playing a typical video game but I was like in a short film, somewhat Pixar-esque. This game really empathizes the importance of an adventure and discovery. With all these mysterious events I encountered, the more I wanted to learn.

Gameplay:

The world you are in is really huge. At first you might be breathless because you can get lost but in reality, you will know will to go. Not to hard to find, the game will show the directions on where to go on this journey. You mostly have to walk in a linear line but there are areas where you must explore in order progress.

You will also be able to fly too; however, it is limited and you can only fly if you collect these special scarves and relics. To make contact with a scarf, you have to awaken it by pressing the “O” button. Once you get the power, you can fly to reach high places or travel faster.

Another interesting thing about this game is being able to travel with a friend online. Without manually inviting people, the game will invite a second player and you and your partner can travel together. No need to feel alone playing the game. You will also be able to recharge your powers with your friends so you can fly more often. When I played this game, we didn’t communicate but we were able to go far into the game.

Graphics/Music:

To be real short to the point, the PS4 version of the game makes the game look like a moving piece of art. The world is beautiful and the music is another bonus. The music can make the game feel soothing and relaxing and when the songs get higher, you can feel the suspense.

Conclusion:

I would personally recommend this game to any PS users. If you don’t the slow pacing of the game and short story, you will find this great. The graphics on this terrific and whole game itself is marvelous. A perfect 10. What do you think of this game? Comment below

Here is shout out to all these players I met online. Thank you!
