Anime News: Sword Art Online gets Live-Action TV series for America!

After looking at Anime News Network and seeing this posted on @josefcd904 Twitter, Reki Kawahara’s light novel series Sword Art Online will be getting an American Live-Action TV series. The recently announced news states that it got the rights to release the TV series globally from independent production company Skydance Television. The TV series will have script writer Laeta Kalogridis (Avatar, Terminator  Genisys) and the executive producers are David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross.

There is also plans by Skydance Interactive on having a reality experience of Sword Art Online after the TV series.

With this announced and even the upcoming Netflix American series Death Note, it looks like America are doing their versions of our favorite anime series.

  1. “Wow, this is really bad in comparison to the original. It has none of the emotion, and we don’t care about these characters.”

    — just getting a head start on what most will be saying later.
Ha. Actually, I’m hoping I will be wrong.
    : )

  2. Willing to have a wait and see mentality, I love the anime SAO♡ so I’ll withhold judgement until we see the first which should say a lot about the series and possibly all we need to know if it’s a bad translation or (gulp) a change of story or characters. Now a live action Japanese TV series would be amazing!~! Oh and I did enjoy those Japanese Death Note movies from awhile back.

And on a lighter note there’s also Deathsponge Notepants….

    • Yeah we just go to wait and see more about this show. Maybe it would have been better if it took place in Japan instead of America. I heard the Death Note films and shows were decent. I would like to see the movies :). After looking at this link you sent, I definitely seen DeathSponge NotePants and I laughed so hard. SpongeBob and Death Note seem to go together in a scary way XD.
Thanks for the link. I love it. 🙂
