Anime Expo News – 7/1/16

Too bad I can’t participate this year for Anime Expo but I will let people know what they are missing. I am going to try to cut to the chase. Hang tight and pay close attention!

Viz Media

Viz Media announced the recent English Dub cast for the popular superhero anime One-Punch Man. Here are the cast and their roles:

  • Max Mittleman as Saitama
  • Zach Aguilar as Genos
  • Robbie Daymond as Mumen Rider
  • Erik Kimerer as Speed ‘o’ Sound Sonic

 

It’s unknown when the home DVDs will be released.

HOWEVER!

On July 16th, One-Punch Man will make a TV debut on Toonami.

Another announcement is the a Blu-Ray release of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 1: Phantom Blood. It’s confirmed that Patrick Seitz will be the English voice of the antagonist Dio but it is unknown if the anime will get a redub. The current company that holds the English Dub is Warner Bros and they dubbed Part 1 and 2. It’s available for DVD only.

 

Viz Media also announced of a book release by Hirohiko Araki’s (JoJo creator) titled How to Create Manga .The book is priced as $19.99 and it describes how to draw manga and how to make a story.

 

Viz Manga

Announced at Anime Expo, Viz Manga announced that they have the license to publish the Dragon Ball Super, The Water Dragon’s Bride, and Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt manga.

They also plan to release the manga of Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, Revolutionary Girl Utena box set, and the omnibus editions of Rurouni Kenshin 3-in-1 volumes. The Revolutionary Girl Utena box set is set to be released Spring 2017 and the Ruroui Kenshin omnibus is on Winter 2017.

The Water Dragon’s Bride synopsis:

 

In the blink of an eye, a modern-day girl named Asahi is whisked away from her warm and happy home and stranded in a strange and mysterious world where she is sacrificed to a water dragon god! What plans are in store for her, and what will happen when she comes face to face with this god?

Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt synopsis:

 

An epic story of war and survival set in the legendary Gundam universe! In the Universal Century year 0079, humanity is divided between Earth and huge space colonies known as Sides. The colony known as Side 3 proclaims independence as the Principality of Zeon, and declares war on the Earth Federation. As the conflict nears the one-year mark, the Earth Federation and the forces of Zeon are locked in a fierce battle for the Thunderbolt Sector, an area of space scarred by the wreckage of destroyed colonies

Aniplex of America

This is probably old news by now, but Aniplex announced that there is an English Dub for the anime ERASED and Charlotte. ERASED will be released for Blu-Ray on two sets on October 29 and January 31.

Another anime getting an English Dub is the anime God Eater. Here is the cast for God Eater:

The anime will also get two Blu-Ray DVD sets on November 29th and one on January 31.

Also, teaming up with Crunchyroll, Aniplex of America will stream the popular anime Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The anime was originally licensed by FUNimation but got removed on March 31 because of license expiration.

Crunchyroll

Announced by the owners of Crunchyroll, the company plans to release English Dub anime for DVD and Blu-Ray. Here is what they are releasing

  • Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
  • Berserk (new serie)
  • Twin Star Exorcists
  • Free
  • Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches
  • Big Order
  • Myriad Colors Phantom World
  • Gintama

The anime will be in English and they have the merchandise rights for the anime Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress. Their first anime they dubbed was Makoto Shinkai‘s 5 Centimeters Per Second film.

Dark Horse

English Publisher announced that they have the license to new manga in their collection:

Hatsune Miku: Rin-Chan Now!
Written by sezu and edited by OwataP, the producers behind the “Rin-chan Now!” song and video the manga is based on. Hiro Tamura draws the art.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Legend of the Piko-Piko Middle School Students
A gag manga spinoff of Neon Genesis Evangelion. The manga takes place at NERV middle school, which raises kids to be Evangelion pilots in order to combat mysterious giant lifeforms. The school recruits gamers from around the world.
H.P. Lovecraft’s The Hound and Other Stories
Gou Tanabe’s H.P. Lovecraft‘s The Hound and Other Stories manga adapts three of H.P. Lovecraft‘s Cthulhu Mythos stories: “The Hound,” “The Temple,” and “The Nameless City.
